El Capitan Gauchos (Merced, CA) backers were pleased Saturday as they observed their basketball team smash the host Rio Americano Raiders (Sacramento, CA), 53-27 in a non-league game.

In their next game, the Gauchos face the East Union Lancers (Manteca, CA) in a non-league game, on Tuesday, December 19. El Capitan will attempt to move on its 10-1 season record. The Lancers enter the game with a 7-3 record after their 51-37 non-league win over Gregori (Modesto, CA).

With the defeat, Rio Americano moves to 3-9 on the year. The Raiders host Grant (Sacramento, CA) to face the Pacers in a non-league game on Wednesday, December 20. The Pacers enter the game with a record of 9-1.
