December 16, 2023: Dubuque, IA 52002 Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks (Waverly, IA) and the host Hempstead Mustangs (Dubuque, IA), saw Waverly-Shell Rock's basketball squad wallop Hempstead by a count of 50-26.
With the victory, Waverly-Shell Rock upgrades its record to 8-0 on the campaign. The Go-Hawks host Crestwood (Cresco, IA) to play the Cadets in a Northeast Iowa challenge on Tuesday, December 19. The Cadets come into the challenge with a record of 3-6. Crestwood lost 47-40 in their recent non-league challenge against Riceville (Riceville, IA)
Next up, the Mustangs play the Kennedy Cougars (Cedar Rapids, IA) in a Mississippi Valley challenge, on Friday, January 5. Hempstead will attempt to upgrade on its 2-6 season record.
