Colorado High School Ice Hockey - Durango knocks off Air Academy
December 16, 2023: US Air Force Academy, CO 80840 The Durango Demons ice hockey squad scored 10 points and restricted the host Air Academy Kadets to 0 in the Demons non-league victory on Saturday.
With the victory, Durango moves its record to 1-2 on the campaign.  The Demons travel to Summit (Frisco, CO) to face the Tigers in a 4A Mountain contest on Friday, January 5.  The Tigers go into the contest with a record of 2-2.
The Kadets now sport a 0-4 record. They take the field next when they host Mullen for a 4A North contest on Monday, December 18. Air Academy will face a Mustangs squad coming off a 11-1 non-league win over Rampart (Colorado Springs, CO). The Mustangs record now stands at 3-4.
  
	                              
 
	
	
					
	
		Game Summary
The Air Academy Kadets lost to the visiting Durango Demons on Saturday, dropping the contest 10-0. Durango won its first game of the season and moves to 1-2 for a two-game set in Breckenridge against the 2-2 Summit Tigers. The Kadets, meanwhile, will host the 2-4 Mullen Mustangs, hoping for revenge against the Mustangs after falling 8-0 in Denver. The Demons presented a balanced attack against the Kadets, with Wynn Daniels and Henry Howe leading the charge with 4 points each, while Lucas Betz notched a hat trick. Goaltender Luka Remec wasn't particularly busy, as the Kadets failed to take a shot on goal in the 1st and 2nd, while testing Remec with 4 shots in the 3rd. Durango quickly jumped on Air Academy, scoring 4 goals on 24 shots in the first, while notching 3 in the last 2 frames with 12 and 10 shots, respectively. Brecken Douglass played 2 periods in net for the Kadets, stopping 29 of 36 shots faced, and was relieved in the 3rd by Jordan Bouziden who stopped 7 of 10.
