In Wednesday's non-league contest, the host Wheeler Lions basketball team scored a good 39-31 triumph over the Griswold Wolverines.

The Lions (1-0) will now prepare for their contest against Montville (Oakdale, CT). The Wolves go into the non-league contest with a 1-0 record. In their last contest, Montville topped Putnam (Putnam, CT), 49-24, in a non-league contest.
