El Capitan Gauchos (Merced, CA) backers went home thrilled Friday as they saw their basketball team smash the host Fresno Warriors (Fresno, CA), 40-17 in a non-league contest.

The Gauchos (10-2) will now prepare for their contest against Mendota (Mendota, CA). The Aztecs go into the non-league contest with a 5-5 record. In their last contest, Mendota was trounced by Sierra (Tollhouse, CA), 42-35, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Warriors confront the Sierra Chieftains (Tollhouse, CA) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, December 20. Fresno will attempt to better on its 6-10 season record.
