Monticello Panthers (Monticello, IA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting West Branch Bears (West Branch, IA), 60-50 in a league bout.

With the victory, Monticello upgrades its record to 2-0 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Western Dubuque (Epworth, IA) to confront the Bobcats in a non-league battle on Saturday, December 3. The Bobcats come into the battle with a record of 1-3. Western Dubuque won 66-63 in their recent non-league battle against Decorah-North Winneshiek (Decorah, IA)

The Bears (0-2) will now prepare for their battle against Solon (Solon, IA). The Spartans go into the non-league outing with a 2-0 record.
