Independence Eagles (Thompson's Station, TN) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Centennial Cougars (Franklin, TN), 1-0 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Independence upgrades its record to 7-2 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Bearden (Knoxville, TN) to play the Bulldogs in a non-league bout on Wednesday, December 21. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 6-4. Bearden won 68-40 in their recent non-league bout against Cascade (Wartrace, TN)

Next up, the Cougars play the Smyrna Bulldogs (Smyrna, TN) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Centennial will attempt to upgrade on its 8-4 season record. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a 7-8 record after their 76-62 non-league loss to Westmoreland (Westmoreland, TN).
