December 20, 2023: Moneta, VA 24121 Fans at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the Alleghany Cougars (Covington, VA) and the host Staunton River Golden Eagles (Moneta, VA), saw Alleghany's basketball squad knock off Staunton River by a count of 38-27.
With the victory, Alleghany upgrades its record to 6-1 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Jefferson Forest (Forest, VA) to play the Cavaliers in a non-league challenge on Thursday, December 21. The Cavaliers come into the challenge with a record of 4-3. Jefferson Forest won 54-37 in their recent non-league challenge against Narrows (Narrows, VA)
Next up, the Golden Eagles play the Narrows Green Waves (Narrows, VA) in a non-league challenge, on Thursday, December 21. Staunton River will attempt to upgrade on its 5-4 season record.
