In Wednesday's non-league outing, the McMinn County Cherokees (Athens, TN) basketball squad edged the visiting Gilmer Bobcats (Ellijay, GA), by a count of 77-76.

The Cherokees (4-2) will now prepare for their outing against Rhea County (Evensville, TN). The Golden Eagles go into the 4A District 5 outing with a 7-1 record. In their last outing, Rhea County held off Red Bank (Chattanooga, TN), 62-29, in a non-league outing.

The Bobcats now hold a 5-7 record. They play next when they travel to Coahulla Creek for a non-league outing on Thursday, December 21. Gilmer will clash with a Colts squad coming off a 42-36 non-league loss to North Murray (Chatsworth, GA). The Colts record now stands at 7-4.
