Cuba/Spoon River Valley Wildcats (Cuba, IL) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Midwest Central Raiders (Manito, IL), 44-38 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Cuba/Spoon River Valley upgrades its record to 5-8 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Brimfield (Brimfield, IL) to play the Indians in a Prairieland bout on Friday, January 5. The Indians come into the bout with a record of 4-8.

Next up, the Raiders play the PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central Bluejays (Petersburg, IL) in a non-league bout, on Friday, January 5. Midwest Central will attempt to upgrade on its 1-11 season record.
