Kentucky High School Basketball - Newport Central Catholic can't hold off St. Charles
December 21, 2023: Newport, KY 41071 The St. Charles Cardinals basketball team scored 42 points and restricted the host Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds to 36 in the Cardinals non-league victory on Thursday.
The Cardinals now sport a 2-4 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Elder for a non-league contest on Friday, December 22. St. Charles will battle a Panthers team coming off a 69-47 non-league win over Archbishop McNicholas (Cincinnati, OH). The Panthers record now stands at 5-0.
The Thoroughbreds (3-6) will now prepare for their contest against Archbishop Hoban (Akron, OH). The Knights come into the non-league contest with a 2-4 record. In their last contest, Archbishop Hoban was nudged by Covington Catholic (Park Hills, KY), 67-64, in a non-league contest.
