Coaches Game Summary

This game was a tale of two halves. In the 1st 40 minutes, Poway dominated play and jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead on a nice header off a throw in by Carlos Rodriguez. Ben Faller followed that up with another header to give Poway a 2-0 halftime lead.

We looked like we were in great shape with a 2-0 lead and only 16 minutes left. Then St. Augustine finally broke through and made it 1-0 with only 15 minutes remaining. That was quickly followed up by a blast outside the box that found the upper corner to tie the game up only 3 minutes after their 1st goal. It looked like we were heading to P.K.'s, when in the 44th minute, Coonor Keefe sent a nice header past the diving Philip Bru to give St. Augustine the title.

It was a heartbreaking defeat for our Poway boy's. We now get a nice break before we return to action the 1st week in January. We hope to have our playmaker, Eric Budniewski, back by then. Eric has only played in 2 of our 11 games because of a dislocated shoulder.
