North Carolina High School Basketball - Independence overwhelmed by Varina

December 22, 2022: Charlotte, NC 28227

The Varina Blue Devils basketball team scored 62 points and restricted the host Independence Patriots to 33 in the Blue Devils non-league victory on Thursday.

The Blue Devils now sport a 5-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to South Mecklenburg for a non-league contest on Friday, December 23. Varina will battle a Sabres team coming off a 79-58 non-league loss to Indian Land (Fort Mill, SC). The Sabres record now stands at 3-5.

The Patriots (6-4) will now prepare for their contest against Science Hill (Johnson City, TN). The Hilltoppers come into the non-league contest with a 1-5 record. In their last contest, Science Hill was routed by Unicoi County (Erwin, TN), 69-55, in a non-league contest.
