December 22, 2023: Paintsville, KY 41240 Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Johnson Central Golden Eagles (Paintsville, KY) and the visiting South Laurel Cardinals (London, KY), saw Johnson Central's basketball squad hold off South Laurel by a tally of 62-61.
With the victory, Johnson Central improves its record to 8-0 on the campaign. The Golden Eagles travel to Elliott County (Sandy Hook, KY) to play the Lions in a non-league challenge on Saturday, December 23. The Lions come into the challenge with a record of 2-4. Elliott County lost 53-28 in their recent non-league challenge against Bath County (Owingsville, KY)
Next up, the Cardinals play the Raceland Rams (Raceland, KY) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, December 23. South Laurel will attempt to improve on its 5-4 season record. The Rams come into the challenge with a 4-4 record after their 79-30 non-league loss to Rockcastle County (Mt. Vernon, KY).
