The Russell County Lakers basketball team scored 50 points and held the visiting Notre Dame Fighting Irish to 44 in the Lakers non-league triumph on Friday.

The Lakers now sport a 5-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Monroe County for a District 16 contest on Tuesday, January 2. Russell County will meet a Falcons team coming off a 71-53 non-league win over Adair County (Columbia, KY). The Falcons record now stands at 4-6.

The Fighting Irish (5-5) will now prepare for their contest against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe (Fort Oglethorpe, GA). The Warriors enter the non-league contest with a 5-3 record. In their last contest, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe was nudged by Heritage (Ringgold, GA), 41-33, in a non-league contest.
