North Carolina High School Basketball - Independence nips Cardinal Newman

Independence Patriots (Charlotte, NC) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Cardinal Newman Cardinals (Columbia, SC), 47-40 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Independence upgrades its record to 4-4 on the season. The Patriots travel to East Rutherford (Forest City, NC) to play the Cavaliers in a non-league bout on Tuesday, December 28. The Cavaliers go into the bout with a record of 3-4. East Rutherford won 60-47 in their recent league bout against Chase (Forest City, NC)

Next up, the Cardinals play the St. Pius X Catholic Golden Lions (Atlanta, GA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 28. Cardinal Newman will attempt to upgrade on its 4-7 season record. The Golden Lions go into the bout with a 8-1 record after their 73-44 league win over Northview (Johns Creek, GA).
