Virginia High School Basketball - Essex thwarts Surry County
December 23, 2023: Tappahannock, VA 22560 The Essex Trojans (Tappahannock, VA) basketball knocked off the visiting Surry County Cougars (Dendron, VA), 39-31 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Trojans (1-1) will now prepare for their test against Courtland (Spotsylvania, VA). The Cougars go into the non-league test with a 5-2 record. In their last test, Courtland notched a victory over Culpeper County (Culpeper, VA), 68-39, in a league test.
The Cougars now own a 1-7 record. They play next when they travel to Nottoway for a non-league test on Saturday, December 30. Surry County will encounter a Cougars squad coming off a 74-68 league win over Buckingham (Buckingham, VA). The Cougars record now stands at 1-6.
