Fans at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the Elk Grove Thundering Herd (Elk Grove, CA) and the visiting Central Catholic Raiders (Modesto, CA), saw Elk Grove's basketball squad hold off Central Catholic by a tally of 42-39.

With the victory, Elk Grove improves its record to 5-7 on the campaign. The Thundering Herd travel to Pitman (Turlock, CA) to confront the Pride in a non-league challenge on Thursday, December 29. The Pride come into the challenge with a record of 2-1. Pitman won 60-18 in their recent non-league challenge against Hilmar (Hilmar, CA)
