Pennsylvania High School Basketball - St. Joseph nips Freeport

St. Joseph Spartans (Natrona Heights, PA) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Freeport Yellowjackets (Freeport, PA), 56-55 in a non-league bout.

With the win, St. Joseph upgrades its record to 7-2 on the season. The Spartans travel to Jeannette (Jeannette, PA) to play the Jayhawks in a WPIAL 1A 3 bout on Thursday, January 5. The Jayhawks go into the bout with a record of 0-8. Jeannette lost 52-41 in their recent non-league bout against Turkeyfoot Valley Area (Confluence, PA)

Next up, the Yellowjackets play the Knoch Knights (Saxonburg, PA) in a WPIAL 4A 1 bout, on Monday, January 2. Freeport will attempt to upgrade on its 4-6 season record. The Knights go into the bout with a 2-4 record after their 52-41 league loss to Highlands (Natrona Heights, PA).
