Hilmar Yellowjackets (Hilmar, CA) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Merced Bears (Merced, CA), 55-53 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Hilmar upgrades its record to 2-0 on the season. The Yellowjackets host Ripon (Ripon, CA) to play the Indians in a bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Indians go into the bout with a record of 4-2. Ripon lost 56-7 in their recent non-league bout against Lincoln (Stockton, CA)

Next up, the Bears play the El Capitan Gauchos (Merced, CA) in a bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Merced will attempt to upgrade on its 2-1 season record. The Gauchos go into the bout with a 15-0 record after their 63-32 non-league win over Manteca (Manteca, CA).
