The Permian Panthers (Odessa, TX) basketball nipped the visiting Independence Knights (Frisco, TX), 60-53 in Thursday's non-league test.

The Panthers (12-7) will now prepare for their test against Clear Falls (League City, TX). The Knights go into the non-league test with a 6-14 record. In their last test, Clear Falls was tipped by Boyd (McKinney, TX), 59-52, in a non-league test.

The Knights now own a 5-12 record. They play next when they host Memorial for a 5A Region II District 10 test on Tuesday, January 2. Independence will encounter a Warriors squad coming off a 82-56 non-league loss to Marcus (Flower Mound, TX). The Warriors record now stands at 5-12.
