December 28, 2023: Vernon, TX 76384 Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Vernon Lions (Vernon, TX) and the visiting Lago Vista Vikings (Lago Vista, TX), saw Vernon's basketball squad hold off Lago Vista by a count of 52-45.
With the victory, Vernon upgrades its record to 13-5 on the campaign. The Lions host Henrietta (Henrietta, TX) to play the Bearcats in a 3A Region I District 7 challenge on Tuesday, January 2. The Bearcats come into the challenge with a record of 3-10. Henrietta won 69-61 in their recent non-league challenge against Windthorst (Windthorst, TX)
Next up, the Vikings play the Salado Eagles (Salado, TX) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, January 2. Lago Vista will attempt to upgrade on its 17-4 season record. The Eagles come into the challenge with a 6-14 record after their 58-48 non-league loss to Fredericksburg (Fredericksburg, TX).
