Wisconsin High School Basketball - Amherst thwarts Newman
December 28, 2023: Amherst, WI 54406 The Amherst Falcons (Amherst, WI) basketball knocked off the visiting Newman Fighting Cardinals (Wausau, WI), 64-47 in Thursday's non-league test.
The Falcons (6-5) will now prepare for their test against Menominee Indian (Keshena, WI). The Eagles go into the Central Wisconsin - East test with a 4-7 record. In their last test, Menominee Indian went down by Wabeno/Laona (Wabeno, WI), 52-46, in a non-league test.
The Fighting Cardinals now own a 2-10 record. They play next when they host Phillips for a non-league test on Friday, January 5. Newman will encounter a Loggers squad coming off a 69-32 league win over Rib Lake (Rib Lake, WI). The Loggers record now stands at 6-2.
