Illinois High School Basketball - Eureka overwhelms Mercer County
December 28, 2024: Eureka, IL 61530 The Eureka Hornets basketball team scored 60 points and limited the visiting Mercer County Golden Eagles to 39 in the Hornets non-league triumph on Saturday.
The Hornets now possess a 6-7 record. They play next when they travel to Illini West for a non-league game on Saturday, December 28. Eureka will confront a Chargers team coming off a 65-36 non-league loss to Rockridge (Taylor Ridge, IL). The Chargers record now stands at 9-4.
With the loss, Mercer County falls to 7-8 on the campaign. The Golden eagles travel to Erie-Prophetstown (Erie, IL) to confront the Panthers in a non-league game on Saturday, January 4. The Panthers go into the game with a record of 5-7. Erie-Prophetstown lost 56-36 in their recent non-league game against Riverdale (Port Byron, IL)
