The South Mecklenburg Sabres basketball squad (Charlotte, NC), was nudged 70-68 in Saturday's non-league battle with the host Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC)

With the victory, Laney advances its record to 7-2 on the year. The Buccaneers travel to Cary (Cary, NC) to meet the Imps in a non-league battle on Monday, December 30. The Imps enter the battle with a record of 6-6. Cary won 64-61 in their recent non-league battle against Hoggard (Wilmington, NC)

The Sabres now own a 6-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Palisades for a 4A South Meck battle on Friday, January 3. South Mecklenburg will meet a Pumas squad coming off a 62-59 non-league win over Kings Mountain (Kings Mountain, NC). The Pumas record now stands at 8-6.
