In Saturday's non-league contest, the host Somerset Sky Pointe Eagles basketball team scored a close 56-50 triumph over the Pahrump Valley Trojans.

The Eagles (7-8) will now prepare for their contest against Cheyenne (North Las Vegas, NV). The Desert Shields go into the 4A Desert contest with a 2-12 record. In their last contest, Cheyenne was tipped by Valley (Las Vegas, NV), 58-54, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Trojans battle the Doral Academy Red Rock Dragons (Las Vegas, NV) in a 3A Southern - Mountain contest, on Monday, January 6. Pahrump Valley will attempt to better on its 4-10 season record.
