The Veterans Memorial Patriots basketball team scored 55 points and limited the host Richland Royals to 53 in the Patriots non-league triumph on Saturday.

The Patriots now have a 13-9 record. They play next when they travel to Smithson Valley for a 5A Region IV District 26 game on Friday, January 3. Veterans Memorial will confront a Rangers team coming off a 75-59 league win over Tivy (Kerrville, TX). The Rangers record now stands at 8-8.

With the loss, Richland falls to 10-12 on the campaign. The Royals host Grapevine (Grapevine, TX) to confront the Mustangs in a 5A Region I District 6 game on Tuesday, January 7. The Mustangs go into the game with a record of 11-13. Grapevine lost 60-51 in their recent league game against Birdville (North Richland Hills, TX)
