Sandy Pioneers (Sandy, OR) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting South Eugene Axe (Eugene, OR), 77-70 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Sandy upgrades its record to 7-1 on the season. The Pioneers travel to McMinnville (McMinnville, OR) to clash with the Grizzlies in a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 4. The Grizzlies go into the bout with a record of 6-3. McMinnville won 77-31 in their recent non-league bout against Aloha (Beaverton, OR)

Next up, the Axe clash with the Churchill Lancers (Eugene, OR) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 3. South Eugene will attempt to upgrade on its 6-4 season record. The Lancers go into the bout with a 9-0 record after their 58-47 non-league win over South Salem (Salem, OR).
