Thales Academy Apex Titans (Apex, NC) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Smithfield-Selma Spartans (Smithfield, NC), 58-52 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Thales Academy Apex upgrades its record to 5-9 on the season. The Titans travel to Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill (Durham, NC) to play the Lion in a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 4. The Lion go into the bout with a record of 5-3. Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill lost 72-61 in their recent non-league bout against Durham Academy (Durham, NC)

Next up, the Spartans play the Fike Demons (Wilson, NC) in a 3A Conference 21 bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Smithfield-Selma will attempt to upgrade on its 0-8 season record. The Demons go into the bout with a 3-8 record after their 55-44 non-league loss to Beddingfield (Wilson, NC).
