Pennsylvania High School Basketball - Avonworth nudges Butler
December 29, 2023: Pittsburgh, PA 15237 Avonworth Antelopes (Pittsburgh, PA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Butler Golden Tornado (Butler, PA), 56-49 in a non-league bout.
With the win, Avonworth upgrades its record to 8-0 on the season. The Antelopes host South Allegheny (McKeesport, PA) to clash with the Gladiators in a WPIAL 3A 2 bout on Tuesday, January 2. The Gladiators go into the bout with a record of 3-6. South Allegheny lost 37-14 in their recent non-league bout against Gateway (Monroeville, PA)
Next up, the Golden Tornado clash with the Seneca Valley Raiders (Harmony, PA) in a WPIAL 6A 1 bout, on Tuesday, January 2. Butler will attempt to upgrade on its 2-6 season record. The Raiders go into the bout with a 3-2 record after their 52-47 non-league win over Shady Side Academy (Pittsburgh, PA).
