North Carolina High School Basketball - Carlisle nips Rockingham County
December 29, 2023: Wentworth, NC 27375 Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Carlisle Chiefs (Axton, VA) and the host Rockingham County Cougars (Wentworth, NC), saw Carlisle's basketball squad hold off Rockingham County by a tally of 33-32.
With the victory, Carlisle improves its record to 9-7 on the campaign. The Chiefs host Miller School of Albemarle (Charlottesville, VA) to play the Mavericks in a VISAA Blue Ridge challenge on Thursday, January 4. The Mavericks come into the challenge with a record of 3-6. Miller School of Albemarle lost 42-26 in their recent non-league challenge against Hampton Roads Academy (Newport News, VA)
Next up, the Cougars play the Bassett Bengals (Bassett, VA) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, December 29. Rockingham County will attempt to improve on its 7-3 season record. The Bengals come into the challenge with a 5-5 record after their 57-35 non-league loss to Rockingham County (Wentworth, NC).
