The Wagner Thunderbirds (San Antonio, TX) basketball nipped the visiting Smithson Valley Rangers (Spring Branch, TX), 68-62 in Wednesday's league test.

The Thunderbirds (3-6) will now prepare for their test against Steele (Cibolo, TX). The Knights go into the 6A Region IV District 27 test with a 7-5 record. In their last test, Steele got by East Central (San Antonio, TX), 79-78, in a league test.

The Rangers now own a 6-4 record. They play next when they host New Braunfels for a 6A Region IV District 27 test on Saturday, January 2. Smithson Valley will encounter a Unicorns squad coming off a 76-62 league loss to Judson (Converse, TX). The Unicorns record now stands at 12-2.
