Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Cooper Pirates (Lubbock, TX) and the host Hillcrest Panthers (Dallas, TX), saw Cooper's basketball squad knock off Hillcrest by a count of 63-52.

With the victory, Cooper upgrades its record to 12-7 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Coronado (Lubbock, TX) to play the Mustangs in a 5A Region I District 4 challenge on Tuesday, January 3. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a record of 11-7. Coronado lost 83-48 in their recent non-league challenge against Trinity Christian (Lubbock, TX)
