In Friday's non-league outing, the Sharpstown Apollos (Houston, TX) basketball squad nipped the visiting La Marque Cougars (La Marque, TX), by a margin of 60-58.

The Apollos (7-9) will now prepare for their outing against Milby (Houston, TX). The Buffs go into the 5A Region III District 19 outing with a 10-8 record.

The Cougars now own a 8-14 record. They play next when they travel to Iowa Colony for a 4A Region IV District 26 outing on Tuesday, January 3. La Marque will clash with a Pioneers squad coming off a 60-36 non-league loss to Ball (Galveston, TX). The Pioneers record now stands at 18-2.
