The Martin County Cardinals basketball team scored 72 points and held the host Tucker County Mountain Lions to 53 in the Cardinals non-league triumph on Friday.

The Cardinals now sport a 9-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Johnson Central for a District 57 contest on Tuesday, January 3. Martin County will meet a Golden Eagles team coming off a 59-51 non-league loss to Cane Bay (Summerville, SC). The Golden Eagles record now stands at 4-6.

The Mountain Lions (2-2) will now prepare for their contest against Moorefield (Moorefield, WV). The Yellow Jackets enter the Potomac Valley A contest with a 1-4 record. In their last contest, Moorefield ran past Pendleton County (Franklin, WV), 73-66, in a non-league contest.
