Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Birmingham Patriots (Lake Balboa, CA) and the host St. Paul Swordsmen (Santa Fe Springs, CA), saw Birmingham's basketball squad hold off St. Paul by a tally of 67-65.

With the victory, Birmingham improves its record to 7-9 on the campaign. The Patriots host Providence (Burbank, CA) to play the Pioneers in a non-league challenge on Thursday, January 4. The Pioneers come into the challenge with a record of 7-8. Providence lost 63-60 in their recent non-league challenge against Calabasas (Calabasas, CA)

Next up, the Swordsmen play the Bishop Montgomery Knights (Torrance, CA) in a Del Rey challenge, on Wednesday, January 3. St. Paul will attempt to improve on its 6-9 season record. The Knights come into the challenge with a 9-5 record after their 51-37 non-league win over Littlerock (Littlerock, CA).
