In Saturday's non-league match, the visiting Desert Hills Thunder basketball team scored a tight 46-39 triumph over the Elko Indians.

In their next game, the Thunder meet the Cedar Reds (Cedar City, UT) in a 4A Region 9 match, on Friday, January 5. Desert Hills will attempt to move on its 7-5 season record. The Reds enter the match with a 3-9 record after their 63-41 non-league loss to Layton Christian Academy (Layton, UT).

With the defeat, Elko moves to 8-6 on the year. The Indians travel to Churchill County (Fallon, NV) to meet the Greenwave in a 3A Northern - East match on Friday, January 5.
