The Kanab Cowboys (Kanab, UT) basketball nipped the visiting Piute Thunderbirds (Junction, UT), 54-50 in Saturday's non-league test.

The Cowboys (7-4) will now prepare for their test against Parowan (Parowan, UT). The Rams go into the 2A Region 18 test with a 3-7 record. In their last test, Parowan was tipped by Enterprise (Enterprise, UT), 74-29, in a league test.

The Thunderbirds now own a 8-2 record. They play next when they travel to Wayne for a 1A Region 20 test on Wednesday, January 3. Piute will encounter a Badgers squad coming off a 74-33 non-league win over Beaver Dam (Littlefield, AZ). The Badgers record now stands at 8-6.
