In Monday's non-league contest, the visiting Union County Panthers basketball team scored a good 79-71 triumph over the Franklin Panthers.

The Panthers (11-2) will now prepare for their contest against Ringgold (Ringgold, GA). The Tigers go into the AA Region 7 contest with a 8-5 record. In their last contest, Ringgold was topped by North Paulding (Dallas, GA), 60-55, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Panthers confront the Pisgah Bears (Canton, NC) in a 3A Mountain 7 contest, on Friday, January 3. Franklin will attempt to better on its 7-3 season record. The Bears go into the contest with a 4-7 record after their 73-66 non-league loss to Stratford (Goose Creek, SC).
