The Mount Vernon Mustangs basketball squad (Atlanta, GA), was nudged 43-42 in Monday's non-league battle with the visiting Lowndes Vikings (Valdosta, GA)

With the victory, Lowndes advances its record to 9-5 on the year. The Vikings travel to Tift County (Tifton, GA) to meet the Blue Devils in a AAAAAA Region 1 battle on Saturday, January 4. The Blue Devils enter the battle with a record of 8-3. Tift County won 48-20 in their recent non-league battle against Cook (Adel, GA)

The Mustangs now own a 6-7 record. They put it on the line next when they host Wesleyan for a A D1 Region 5 battle on Tuesday, January 7.
