Washington High School Basketball - Chewelah knocked off by Newport
December 5, 2023: Newport, WA 99156 The Newport Grizzlies basketball team scored 50 points and held the visiting Chewelah Cougars to 40 in the Grizzlies non-league triumph on Tuesday.
The Grizzlies now sport a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they host Deer Park for a non-league contest on Thursday, December 7. Newport will meet a Stags team coming off a 58-34 non-league win over Bonners Ferry (Bonners Ferry, ID). The Stags record now stands at 3-1.
The Cougars (0-1) will now prepare for their contest against St. George's (Spokane, WA). The Dragons enter the non-league contest with a 1-2 record. In their last contest, St. George's was outscored by Freeman (Rockford, WA), 45-35, in a non-league contest.
