In Friday's non-league contest, the host Akins Eagles basketball team scored a close 54-52 win over the Madison Mavericks.

The Eagles (8-1) will now prepare for their contest against College Park (The Woodlands, TX). The Cavaliers come into the non-league contest with a 8-4 record. In their last contest, College Park edged Boerne (Boerne, TX), 48-28, in a non-league contest.
