In Saturday's non-league contest, the host Southwest Dragons basketball team scored a close 51-49 triumph over the Alief Elsik Rams.

The Dragons (7-4) will now prepare for their contest against Pearsall (Pearsall, TX). The Mavericks go into the non-league contest with a 10-4 record. In their last contest, Pearsall nipped Randolph (Universal City, TX), 52-48, in a non-league contest.
