North Carolina High School Basketball - South Mecklenburg trounced by New Hanover

December 6, 2025: Wilmington, NC 28401

New Hanover Wildcats (Wilmington, NC) supporters left the game happy Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad triumph over the visiting South Mecklenburg Sabres (Charlotte, NC), 71-41 in a non-league contest.

The Wildcats (4-1) will now prepare for their contest against Hopewell (Huntersville, NC). The Titans come into the non-league contest with a 3-3 record. In their last contest, Hopewell was trounced by J.H. Rose (Greenville, NC), 72-54, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Sabres battle the Charlotte Catholic Cougars (Charlotte, NC) in a non-league match, on Tuesday, December 9. South Mecklenburg will attempt to upgrade on its 3-5 season record. The Cougars enter the match with a 5-1 record after their 70-52 non-league win over Kings Mountain (Kings Mountain, NC).
