Illinois High School Basketball - New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly can't hold off Southwestern
December 6, 2025: Piasa, IL 62079 The Southwestern Piasa Birds nudged the visiting New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly Vipers basketball team by a margin of 45-43 in Saturday's non-league game.
The Piasa Birds now have a 4-1 record. They play next when they host Bunker Hill for a non-league game on Monday, December 8. Southwestern will confront a Minutemen team coming off a 52-21 league loss to Nokomis (Nokomis, IL). The Minutemen record now stands at 0-5.
The Vipers (5-3) will now prepare for their outing against Edinburg/South Fork (Kincaid, IL). The Ponies enter the MSM outing with a 2-5 record. In their last outing, Edinburg/South Fork was edged by Midwest Central/Delavan (Manito, IL), 48-38, in a non-league game.
