Mississippi High School Basketball - Newton knocked off by Quitman

The Quitman Panthers basketball team scored 65 points and held the visiting Newton Tigers to 54 in the Panthers non-league triumph on Tuesday.

The Panthers now sport a 9-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host West Jones for a non-league contest on Friday, December 10. Quitman will battle a Mustangs team coming off a 50-32 non-league win over Greene County (Leakesville, MS). The Mustangs record now stands at 4-0.

The Tigers (5-3) will now prepare for their contest against Laurel (Laurel, MS). The Golden Tornadoes enter the non-league contest with a 6-3 record. In their last contest, Laurel was defeated by Oak Grove (Hattiesburg, MS), 44-37, in a non-league contest.
