Tennessee High School Basketball - Wooddale overwhelmed by Memphis School of Excellence
December 7, 2023: Memphis, TN 38118 The Memphis School of Excellence Eagles basketball team scored 59 points and restricted the host Wooddale Cardinals to 24 in the Eagles non-league victory on Thursday.
The Eagles now sport a 4-0 record. They put it on the line next when they host Sheffield for a non-league contest on Tuesday, December 12.
The Cardinals (0-3) will now prepare for their contest against Kingsbury (Memphis, TN). The Falcons come into the non-league contest with a 3-4 record. In their last contest, Kingsbury was routed by Crosstown (Memphis, TN), 31-29, in a non-league contest.
First Quarter
The Eagles start off with a strong start scoring 25 points, lead by their freshman point guard, Tatianna Woods, who marked 15 points in the first quarter along with 6 steals.
Second Quarter
In the second quarter, Tatianna Woods continued on her offensive showcase by scoring 11 of her team's 22 points. The Eagles revealed some incredible ball movement and teamwork by assisting on 5 of their 10 made shots in the quarter.
Third Quarter
In the Third quarter, Wooddale rallied to score 8 points to the Eagle's 3. The quarter was full of defensive stops and hustle plays for both teams. Without much scoring, the Eagles still made a great defensive impact with 8 defensive rebounds and 2 steals in the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
To finish out the game, the Eagles held Wooddale scoreless in the final 8 minutes. Ahmiya Thompson finished out the quarter by scoring 7 of her 19 points to close the game.
