December 8, 2022: Athens, TX 75751 Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Neches Tigers (Neches, TX) and the host Athens Hornets (Athens, TX), saw Neches's basketball squad knock off Athens by a count of 59-42.
With the victory, Neches upgrades its record to 10-0 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Malakoff (Malakoff, TX) to play the Tigers in a non-league challenge on Friday, December 9. The Tigers come into the challenge with a record of 3-4. Malakoff won 32-30 in their recent non-league challenge against Mineola (Mineola, TX)
Next up, the Hornets play the Mabank Panthers (Mabank, TX) in a 4A Region II District 16 challenge, on Tuesday, December 13. Athens will attempt to upgrade on its 1-4 season record. The Panthers come into the challenge with a 10-7 record after their 44-23 non-league win over Wills Point (Wills Point, TX).
