In Monday's non-league contest, the host Pekin Dragons basketball team scored a close 54-48 triumph over the Normal University Pioneers.

The Dragons (5-2) will now prepare for their contest against Washington (Washington, IL). The Panthers go into the Mid-Illini contest with a 6-0 record. In their last match, Washington got by Hersey (Arlington Heights, IL), 68-44, in a non-league match.

The Pioneers now own a 5-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host Prairie Central for a non-league match on Thursday, December 11. Normal University will face a Hawks squad coming off a 40-37 non-league win over Reed-Custer (Braidwood, IL). The Hawks record now stands at 3-6.
