California High School Basketball - Downey holds off Merced

December 9, 2024: Merced, CA 95344

The Downey Knights basketball team scored 46 points and limited the host Merced Bears to 42 in the Knights non-league triumph on Monday.

The Knights now have a 4-4 record. They play next when they host River Islands for a non-league game on Tuesday, December 10. Downey will confront a Riptide team coming off a 53-22 non-league loss to Franklin (Stockton, CA). The Riptide record now stands at 2-3.

With the loss, Merced falls to 2-4 on the campaign. The Bears travel to Hilmar (Hilmar, CA) to confront the Yellowjackets in a non-league game on Tuesday, December 10. The Yellowjackets go into the game with a record of 0-4. Hilmar lost 47-37 in their recent non-league game against Pacheco (Los Banos, CA)
